Where to Find Employment Law Advice?

Some employers try to take advantage of their employers by making them work overtime without pay. The employee may go with it since they need the job. On the other hand, if an employee does not want to go along with the employer, he or she may be fired. If this happens, the employee can seek legal advice.

Look in the yellow pages of your telephone book for employment law advice attorneys. The paralegal may take your call and ask you a few questions to see if the attorney can help you. If the paralegal believes the attorney can help you, the paralegal will set up an appointment for you to speak with an attorney.

During the appointment, the attorney may ask you if you received a handbook when you were hired. If so, bring it with you, so that the attorney can review it. Many of the times, employers do not go by the handbook and make their own rules. For example, in the handbook it may state that they can fire anyone based on their race, religion, or disability. Also, if you were fired because you did not want to work unpaid overtime, the employee can be reimbursed.

The attorney will tell you what you will need to do in order to make a complaint. Many of the times, the attorney will not charge you a fee until the case is over. You may be able to win your case faster, if can get other employees to come forward as well. Many of the times, other employees are afraid of losing their jobs because they are the only one in their family working and since the economy is already tough, they do not want to jeopardize it.

The attorney may find other workers who have been fired in the past, which could help your case. If this is the case, it could cause the place of work to be shut down until further notice. The people that still had jobs will be out of a job for a while. They may have a change of heart and come forward, so that they can go back to work.
